SUPERCHICKEN

I came across this in 3/2003. I changed a ladies transmission in her 85 Bronco II. easy work and I would have only charged about 50 bucks to do it. Nice deal if you ask me.

Super Chicken TA DA

Just for car enthusiasts here is a little info on this car.In 1987 Ford redesigned the thunderbirds looks outside. The nose was more rounded now instead of flat, as they had been since 1983. The cars came out with a few engine options. My paticular model came equipped with the 140 hp   3.8 L 232C.I. V6. Some came equipped with the 150 hp 5.0 L 302 V8.

The day of picking up the car and Superchickens conversation with a hedge.

When I talked to the lady about this car the starter had went out in it. We towed it home on a car dolly. In the middle of tow the dolly broke loose from the truck. Snapping the safety chains I watched as my baby shot off throught the ditch at around 30 mph with no one driving it. After crossing a 20 inch deep ditch it came to rest heavily against a hedge tree. Almost in tears I hurried home to get another truck and a friend to help. The car had become twisted on the dolly from the impact. The left side had broken loose from the dolly which was stopped by the tree. Twisting the dolly under the car as it came to a sudden stop. An hour later we had the dolly out from under it and started home. This time towing it with a tow chain instead of the dolly so someone was behind the wheel of the car.

A little history and whats to come

I was born in march of 1978. I grew up in a little town in the middle of Missouri.I was constantly helping my uncle work on cars. Even if it was as small as changing the oil I was there.I've helped work on cars since I was old enough to see over the top of the radiator.A few years ago I moved to central Kansas. Now I live in southeast Kansas. This is going to be my first customized job inside and out. As I have the time and money the car is going to get more options that came on these cars, as well as MORE POWER. You can never go TOO fast, only too slow. I'll be posting pics of the car before the work is started, during the working process, and the finished product on each part. If at all possible I will try and include part numbers and such so others who like the idea can do the same.

A little history on the car itself

Superchicken was made for the 87 model year. It came with the basic options. Not much extra on it at all. It had the 60/40 bucket seats in it. What's that you may ask? Well it's the bucket seats where the driver seat goes over the center hump of the floor pans. The console was built into the driver seat that contained all the buttons. SC also had power windows, power door locks, the power driver seat, auto headlights, and the nifty little electronic clock between the heater vents which ford labeled as an option. I haven't personally seen any myself without that. The interior was grey, and the exterior was Smoke. It had the 3.8L V6 backed up by the 4 Speed AOD transmission going into the 7.5 inch rear. At least they did do the car a favor and not put hubcaps on it. It has the 14 inch alloy 8 hole rims which came stock on alot of these cars since the early 80's.

What we're aiming for

My other baby as well as the main helper on the car.

This is My helper. As well as one of the greatest women I know. She's going to be helping me throughout the entire project.
